The Rootsweb server has been down for a week, which means that a lot of
genealogy mailing lists, including the South African one, have been down as
well. 

Perhaps it's time to remind people of the old-fashioned BBS (Bulletin Board
Service). There are not as many of them as there were, because everyone rushed
off to the Internet, and traffic has dropped, but if you'd like to explore the
BBS option while waiting for the Rootsweb servers to be repaired, have a look
