Some impressive resources are being prepared by the Humanities Research
Institute of Sheffield University. The projects are listed at:

Two in particular look as though they'll be extremely useful:

The Proceedings of the Old Bailey, 1674 to 1834 - searchable transcripts,
due to appear in January, starting with 22,000 trials from 1714-1759:

An electronic version of John Strype's 1720 edition of Stow's Survey of
London, due to appear this month:

There are also some more specialised projects, based on particular business
and personal archives, and others such as The National Fairground Archive,
The Hospice History Project and The Centre for Research into Freemasonry.
