Hi Bob! >> I'm about ready to ditch google+ (laugh).. but at least they don't >> send your information to 3rd parties (yet). I guess really it's not so involved even when you get down to it. >> So I just stopped using their search engine and use yahoo's search >> instead.. It's an option on my browser. > Good for you - I own Yahoo stock ;-))) hehe cool :) Ok so I can help you make some money I guess Lol >>> the law was passed, we had some calls like that, too. Afterwards >>> things cooled down quite a bit and I haven't had any such calls for >>> many months. >> We have a "do not call" list here -- at some point the administration >> or whoever decided you have to renew the numbers you don't want >> calling every year.. insane to me.. > Not only to you. Luckily, the law here states that such calls are illegal > unless explicitly permitted (from your email provider, for example, or your > Internet provider), and supressing the phone number of the caller is also > illegal (although that is hard to prove in court). I have to admit I haven't kept up much with the laws here in our country, hence my surprise one day when I found out that the numbers I'd entered in the don't call list had expired.. I don't have a mobile phone (I know, blasphemy these days Lol) but just a POTS voice line as far as telephony goes.. but I'd guess the same is true no matter what type phone you have as far as the don't-call-list goes. Perhaps if you have a mobile phone, then you might move into some protections from the ISP department, I don't know. Interstingly though, our telephone company here is also our ISP.. but I don't think that will help any. Crap, I can't even get the FCC or the FTC to quickly rule on a compaint I sent in about our phone company overcharging by $2.90 if you pay your bill via telephone via automated recorded phone prompts! :) Still waiting to hear about that one.. >> So lately, I've been getting calls from Newt Gingrich's people :) :) >> I'm tempted to answer and tell him what I think of him but instead he >> just gets the normal "plunk". <grin> > Might be better just to set down the phone and leave the line open until they > hang up - that would increase their phone charges ;-) hehe that's an idea :) First say "hello" though so that their automated system thinks I'm listening <vbg> Take care, Janis --- BBBS/Li6 v4.10 Dada-1 * Origin: Prism bbs (1:261/38) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/954 712/0 313 550 620 848 953 @PATH: 261/38 712/848 633/267
